FROG JUMP, TN - Republican Stephen Fincher reacted to misleading attacks from Democrat Roy Herron's campaign by reaffirming his commitment to fight for the seniors of the eighth district.
Taking another page out of the Obama-Pelosi-Herron politics-as-usual playbook by parroting the President's recent speech, 24-year career politician Roy Herron's campaign has publicized outright lies regarding Stephen Fincher's position on Social Security.
Stephen Fincher commented by saying, "We have made a solemn vow to our seniors and the federal government must not break it. I will be a voice fighting for seniors in Washington and I will be a vote to keep our promise to them in Congress. I stand firmly against privatization of Social Security and have never advocated such a scheme. Roy Herron knows that. But it looks like Senator Herron and his campaign want to score political points by scaring seniors instead of getting serious about an issue that is of deep concern to so many Americans."
Fincher added, "While the Democrats play politics, I'm focused on keeping our promise to seniors and implementing common sense conservative policies that will grow our economy and help get people back to work. Roy Herron doesn't want to talk about jobs because he can't defend the failed policies of President Obama and Speaker Pelosi."
The nonpartisan Factcheck.org of the Annenberg Public Policy Center has already discredited Senator Herron's claims:
- Factcheck.org Says Democrats' Claims About Social Security Are "Mostly False." "President Obama claimed that Republican leaders are pushing to make ‘privatizing Social Security a key part of their legislative agenda' should they regain control of the House and Senate. He said this is ‘right up there on their to-do list with repealing' parts of the new health care law. We find the president's claim to be mostly false." (Annenberg Public Policy Center,

- Factcheck.org Says It's "Simply Not True" That Republicans Are Pushing For Social Security Taxes To Be Invested In The Stock Market."It's simply not true that the Republican leadership of either the House or the Senate is currently pushing to allow any portion of Social Security taxes - let alone all Social Security taxes - to be invested in the stock market." (Annenberg Public Policy Center,

Fincher spokesman Paul Ciaramitaro concluded by stating, "Only a week into this general election campaign, a clear pattern has already emerged from the Democrats. Roy Herron and his cronies will say anything to avoid having him justify his support for the liberal San Francisco values of Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Senator Herron is afraid to explain why he thinks Nancy Pelosi and her job-killing agenda is good for Tennesseans, so he spends his time making false accusations about Stephen Fincher."
Stephen Fincher is a lifelong farmer, businessman, and gospel singer with deep roots in Tennessee, not politics. Stephen and Lynn, his wife of 18 years, proudly raise their three children in Frog Jump.
