FROG JUMP - Stephen Fincher for Congress today released the results of a poll that shows Fincher emerging from the Republican primary campaign with a double-digit lead over his nearest general election rival in the race for Tennessee's eighth district congressional seat.
The poll, conducted by The Tarrance Group on August 10th & 11th, surveyed 400 likely voters and had a margin of error of +/- 4.9% with the following results:
Republican Stephen Fincher - 47%
Democrat Roy Herron - 37%
Independent Donn Janes - 5%
Commenting on the poll, Stephen Fincher said, "I am humbled by this overwhelming support, but I know the important poll comes in November. I am going to continue to bring my common sense conservative message to the voters of this district. We need lower taxes, less regulation and a strong moral compass in Congress. The liberal Obama-Pelosi agenda that Senator Herron supports is not what the people want and it's time we sent that message to Washington. I will fight for our seniors and veterans, stand-up for our military and work hard to return jobs to the area for the families and small businesses of our district."
The polling survey also collected the following data:
Stephen Fincher: 72% of likely voters were aware of him, with 38% having a favorable view and 15% viewing him unfavorably.
Senator Roy Herron: 61% of likely voters were aware of him, with 23% having a favorable view and 19% viewing him unfavorably.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi: 94% of likely voters were aware of her, with 24% having a favorable view and 59% viewing her unfavorably.
President Barack Obama: 41% of likely voters approved of his job performance as President while 55% disapproved.
Stephen Fincher is a lifelong farmer, businessman, and gospel singer with deep roots in Tennessee, not politics. Stephen and Lynn, his wife of 18 years, proudly raise their three children in Frog Jump.
