FROG JUMP - Republican Stephen Fincher responded to President Barack Obama's recent endorsement of a proposed mosque near the site of the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York City.
Fincher stated, "President Obama's remarks are yet another example of the tone deafness of the elites up in Washington. Our country faces crippling unemployment, serious threats to our national security, and record public debt that will saddle future generations for decades. Instead of addressing those issues, the President feels it is his obligation to endorse the construction of a mosque adjacent to the hallowed grounds of Lower Manhattan. The liberal Democrats in DC are out-of-touch and they are not serving the people."
Fincher continued, "This is not a question of the free expression of religion. Every American has a fundamental right to practice his or her faith without government interference. But this proposed mosque is a provocative step that is insensitive to the memory of the victims of the September 11th attacks and their loved ones. There are other locations that would be appropriate for Muslims to build a house of worship. It should not be erected so close to Ground Zero and President Obama is wrong to endorse it. He should be focused on getting Americans back to work, rather than pandering to his liberal base."
Stephen Fincher is a lifelong farmer, businessman, and gospel singer with deep roots in Tennessee, not politics. Stephen and Lynn, his wife of 18 years, proudly raise their three children in Frog Jump.
