FROG JUMP - Stephen Fincher, conservative Republican candidate for Tennessee's Eighth Congressional District, today accepted the overwhelming endorsement of the Humphreys County Tea Party, another indication of Fincher's considerable support with grassroots conservatives from all corners of the district.
Fincher received a commanding 85% of the vote from local Tea Party members present at last night's organizational meeting in Waverly. Of the other candidates in attendance, Randy Smith finished second with 8% of the vote, outdistancing third place finisher, Dr. Ron Kirkland, who garnered just 6% of the vote.
"Stephen Fincher received the strong endorsement of our organization because we believe he'll be a dedicated, common sense leader who stands up to the liberal agenda of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi," Humphreys County Tea Party Chairman Jerry Pangle said. "It's more important than ever to have a representative in Congress who will fight for our conservative values, and we believe Stephen is the right man for the challenge."
In response, Fincher said: "I am proud to have the endorsement of the Humphreys County Tea Party. Our message of personal responsibility, lower taxes, and less government is resonating with grassroots conservatives from across Middle and West Tennessee. As each day passes, we expand the ranks of concerned neighbors who are committed to plowing Congress this November."
Stephen Fincher is a lifelong farmer, businessman, and gospel singer with deep roots in Tennessee, not politics. Stephen and Lynn, his wife of 18 years, proudly raise their three children in Frog Jump.
