FROG JUMP - Stephen Fincher, Republican candidate for the Eighth Congressional District, today paid his respects to our fallen heroes and launched a weeklong care package drive to collect gifts and comforts from home for our troops currently stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Fincher began the day by honoring generations of Tennesseans in uniform at a Memorial Day service in Dyersburg. This afternoon, Fincher will be hosting a gathering at North Park in Jackson to kick off a five day effort to collect nonperishable snacks, clothing, toiletries, and entertainment items for our active duty troops. Middle and West Tennesseans are encouraged to stop by Fincher for Congress Headquarters in Jackson before Friday evening with their items for donation.
"Today is a day of solemn remembrance for the brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of liberty," Fincher said. "This Memorial Day please join me in taking a moment to thank a veteran for their service and offer a thoughtful prayer for our active duty personnel who remain in harm's way. I hope that these care packages from home will provide comfort to our troops overseas, letting them know that we are forever grateful for their sacrifice."
