(FROG JUMP, TN) Stephen Fincher, Republican candidate for Congress in the Eighth District, held a campaign fish fry Wednesday with over 300 local supporters in attendance. This represents one of the largest campaign events in West Tennessee this year.
"I am humbled by the showing of support in Dyer County and across the Eighth District. When our campaign started, we were literally starting from ground zero and we were facing Congressman John Tanner. Today, we're running in an open seat against a career politician with a liberal record right in step with Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Standing up for Tennessee values is what this campaign is all about, and that's what I'll do."

National experts give Fincher credit for persuading incumbent Congressman John Tanner to announce his retirement when Fincher quickly raised over $300,000 last fall. Fincher has now raised over $650,000 from over 600 donors with 96% of the money coming from Tennessee. That's more than any candidate has ever raised from the Eighth District.
The Fincher campaign has held several fish fry's in the communities that dot the landscape of the Eighth District. Though most of the events have around 100 supporters, today's fish fry in Dyersburg is by far the largest one to date.
Fincher continued, "This just shows that the folks in the Eighth District are really fired up by our message of stopping the Obama-Pelosi agenda dead in its tracks."
