(Jackson, TN) Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, headlined a fundraising event for Frog Jump farmer and gospel-singer Stephen Fincher last week.

The event, held at the Crescent Club in Memphis on Friday, brought in $30,000 for the Fincher campaign.

Fincher, coming off his third consecutive county GOP straw poll victory in Lauderdale County the previous night, continued to press his common-sense conservative message at Friday's event as he welcomed Sessions' help:

"I'm honored to have the chairman's help and look forward to joining him in Washington to stop the Obama-Pelosi agenda dead in its tracks. But as much as I enjoy having the support of leading conservatives on Capitol Hill, I'm even more excited about the level of enthusiasm our campaign is generating among local Republicans throughout West and Middle Tennessee. Everywhere I've traveled so far, folks are stepping up to join our cause after I tell them what I plan to do in Congress: I'm running to be a check and balance on the president's big-government ways; to restore a conservative vision that puts everyday people before big-moneyed special interests; and to rein in wasteful spending and cut taxes on small businesses so we can get Tennesseans working again."

Chairman Sessions released the following statement detailing why he's helping Fincher:

"Congress needs more people like Stephen. The folks I met during my visit told me they want a congressman who will stay true to their faith, their constituents and their conservative values when they get to Washington. That's why they're supporting Stephen Fincher, and that's why I'm doing everything I can to help him win in November."

Stephen Fincher, a farmer from Frog Jump, Tennessee, is the first and only candidate thus far in Tennessee's 8th Congressional District who has signed any of these three pledges.
