(Jackson, TN) Stephen Fincher won hearts and votes at the Madison County Reagan Dinner Friday night. While praising Reagan and promising to fight to stop the Obama-Pelosi agenda, Fincher received the only standing ovation of the evening and won 66% of the vote in the home county of one of his three opponents.
National experts give Fincher credit for persuading incumbent Congressman John Tanner to announce his retirement when Fincher quickly raised over $300,000 last fall. Fincher has now raised over $650,000 from over 600 donors with 96% of the money coming from Tennessee. That’s more than any candidate has ever raised from the Eighth District.
“Our country is in trouble. Our future is at stake. Our children’s future is at stake. And that’s why when local Republicans asked me to run against Congressman John Tanner, I couldn’t say no,” said Fincher.
Fincher called for and end to the explosive deficit spending in Washington, and for immediate tax cuts to jump start the economy and small business. Saying tax cuts will spur economic growth and job creation, he also said tax rate cuts would grow government revenues and help reduce the deficit. “For the naysayers who ask how we’ll pay for the tax cuts, I’d simply remind them that President Reagan proved that they more than pay for themselves.”
Fincher, 36, is a farmer and businessman, member of a gospel singing ministry started by his grandmother sixty years ago, and husband and father of three. For more information, visit www.stephenfincher.com.
